Smuggling Digital Bibles into Africa: How MicroSD Cards Are Transforming Lives in Persecuted Regions

In some parts of the world, owning a Bible isn’t just difficult—it’s dangerous.

Today’s story comes from a region in eastern Africa where extreme religious persecution puts every believer at risk. Our Bible distribution partner, whom we’ll call “Peter” for his safety, is working in a country so hostile to Christianity that we cannot reveal his real name or exact location.

In this nation, following Jesus can be a matter of life and death. An anti-Christian extremist group is in power across much of the country, hunting down believers—especially pastors and leaders—and executing them without warning. Many Christians are also rejected or attacked by their own families. Some are imprisoned in their homes, forced into marriages with non-believers, or even killed for choosing Christ.

Yet in the middle of this darkness, there is hope—carried on tiny MicroSD cards.

How MicroSD Cards Are Sharing the Bible in Secret

These discreet MicroSD cards are preloaded with the Bible and other Christian resources in the local language. They’re easy to conceal, making them an ideal way to share God’s Word in nations where there is extreme persecution.

In a recent covert delivery, 1,000 MicroSD cards were successfully distributed across Peter’s country. Each card contained Scripture and Gospel content in the heart language of local communities. Peter and other brave partners took enormous risks to deliver these cards, traveling through hostile regions and placing them in the hands of believers and seekers.

The results? In the months that followed, 45 people contacted Peter and his team to learn more about what they had heard. Even more powerful—19 individuals gave their lives to Jesus and asked to be baptized!

Just think about that … 19 people came to know Jesus—and they’re now growing in their faith through Scripture on tiny, discreet MicroSD cards.

In one of the world’s most dangerous places to be a Christian, God is still transforming lives. Your prayers and support make stories like this possible. Thank you for being part of this mission—making the Bible accessible to all, including those living in nations with extreme persecution.

Join us in prayer today for Peter and these 19 new believers who risk everything to follow Christ—and for the continued spread of God’s Word across their country:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the courage of Peter and every believer who risks their lives to share and receive Your Word. Surround them with Your protection and fill them with unwavering faith. We lift up the 19 new believers—nurture them through Your Spirit, strengthen them in trials, and let them grow in the knowledge of Christ. May the seeds planted through these MicroSD cards produce lasting fruit. We ask for continued provision, open doors, and discernment for every distribution effort. Let Your light shine in the darkest places and Your name be glorified in every heart that turns to You. Amen.
