In the remote mountains of India, where steep trails wind through rugged terrain, a faithful pastor rides his scooter every week—carrying the Gospel to a place where few have gone.

This is the story of Pastor Rajesh, a dedicated church planter serving among a (formerly!) unreached people group in India.

A Weekly Journey Fueled by Faith

Every Sunday afternoon, Pastor Rajesh begins an 18-mile journey over rough and unforgiving terrain. His destination? A small village tucked high in the mountains, where he has planted a second church. The road is difficult, but Rajesh’s determination is unwavering.

Once he arrives, Pastor Rajesh preaches from the Bible and spends time ministering to the growing community of believers. He stays overnight, offering encouragement and discipleship before making the long trip home the following morning.

Planting a Church Among the Unreached

Before Pastor Rajesh arrived, the people of this village had limited exposure to Christianity and were considered an unreached people group. Most residents have never had the opportunity to read or write, presenting a unique challenge for pastors like Rajesh engaged in Christian ministry in rural India.

Despite these obstacles, God is opening hearts and transforming lives.

Audio Bibles: A Vital Ministry Tool

Recently, a Digital Bible Society distribution project placed 500 Mini Pearl audio Bible players in the hands of pastors, evangelists, and church leaders in India. Pastor Rajesh was one of the pastors to receive these audio Bibles—an invaluable resource for reaching his congregation. These devices allow people to hear Scripture in their own language, making the message of Christ accessible in a powerful new way.

With these biblical resources, Pastor Rajesh is able to follow up with individuals more effectively, guiding them in their faith journey and helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Spreading Hope in Hard Places

Pastor Rajesh’s story is just one example of how church planting in India is reaching the unreached and transforming lives—even in the most difficult locations.

For communities where literacy is low and printed Bibles are difficult to use, audio Bibles are opening new doors to the Gospel. They allow people to hear God’s Word in their own language, often for the very first time!
